Item Open Access Kendall Gallien: capstone(Colorado State University. Libraries, 2025) Gallien, Kendall, artistThe artist's statement: Through my artwork, I try to explore the use of different mediums to reflect on my own experiences and personal journey. As a child, I had a sense of flexibility and fragility, and this material allowed me to express these themes in a vulnerable and strong way. I like this material's vibrant colors and texture as it creates a sense of energy in my drawings. Through this combination of traditional and foam cord techniques, I hope to create pieces to help viewers reflect on their lives. My works reflect the experiences and struggles that I have experienced due to my stroke in the womb. These experiences have affected my creativity and outlook on life. Each piece I create represents my pain and struggles, and through the colors and forms that I use, I hope to bring hope and resilience to others. My art serves as an invitation to connect with others who have gone through similar experiences.
