Who is that and what do they do? Showing connections between external services and your institutional repository
(Colorado State University. Libraries, 2015) Draper, Daniel, author; White, Suzi, author
Since the implementation of DigiTool for the Digital Collections of Colorado in 2007, the landscape of services available to academic institutional repositories has changed significantly. A recent migration to DSpace precipitated an assessment of the increased number of services available to support open scholarly information sharing. What's the difference between VIVO and Altmetric? How are Figshare and Globus services similar? This poster defines core functionality of many of these services and how they relate to DSpace. It also categorizes them into four key areas: alternative research metrics, data storage and delivery, faculty and institutional reporting, and digital preservation. The overview will help academic library staff assess the service solutions that can best complement their institutional repository's strategic goals. Presented at the 2015 DLF Forum on October 26, 2015.

Static to dynamic: growing a wildflower web site
(Colorado State University. Libraries, 2008) Zhou, Yongli, author
Though database driven web sites are becoming more dominant world-wide, many web projects are still static, i.e. they have been created with flat HTML pages which are difficult to maintain and update. Kansas Wildflowers and Grasses, one of four Kansas State University AgNIC sites, was begun in 1996 and has been considerably enlarged over a ten year period. It was originally hand-coded in HTML with each page created separately. As more data was added to the site, maintaining and updating the pages became very time consuming. In the spring of 2007, it was decided to give the web site a “new look” which would also present new features such as a consistent metadata display, an easy-to-update web interface, and web forms for inputting metadata. This presentation describes the goals of this project and focus on the techniques and procedures used to convert the original static site into a dynamic database-driven web resource. Poster presented at the 2008 USAIN (United States Agricultural Information Network) Conference, April 27-30, 2008, Wooster, Ohio.

Data sharing practices of agricultural researchers and their implications for the land grant university mission
(Colorado State University. Libraries, 2014-05-04) Swauger, Shea, author; Davis, Miriam, author; Fernandez, Peter, author; Eaker, Christopher B., author
Poster for the 2014 United States Agricultural Information Network (USAIN) Conference, exploring the data management practices and data sharing attitudes among agricultural researchers at two public land-grant institutions: Colorado State University and the University of Tennessee Knoxville. This poster presents the initial results of the research project by explaining research methodology, defining study populations, showing preliminary findings, and presenting possible future directions. The researchers intend to determine how data management practices and attitudes serve the mission of the land-grant university as stated within the Morrill Act of 1862.

Data curation issues in transitioning a field science collection of long-term research data and artefacts from a local repository to an institutional repository
(Colorado State University. Libraries, 2014) Kaplan, Nicole E., author; Draper, Daniel C., author; Bastian, Dawn E. (Dawn Elaine), 1961-, author; Moore, John C., author; Baker, Karen S., author; Swauger, Shea, author; SGS-LTER, Colorado State University, publisher
Transition a local 32 year project, the Shortgrass Steppe Long-Term Ecological Research (SGS-LTER), with over 100 data packages and related digital artefacts, to an Institutional Repository (IR) at Colorado State University (CSU) Libraries to ensure persistent, reliable, and interoperable access to our collection of scientific data. Our collaborative team envisions being part of a larger information environment, which enables sharing of knowledge and data - a web of repositories. Poster presented at the 9th International Digital Curation Conference held in San Francisco, California on February 25, 2014. Refereed.
